Nuxt runs on both the server and the browser, so its docs list several places errors come from: Vue rendering (on the server or in the browser), server and client startup (plugins), and the Nitro server (your server/ API routes). Find which one. A full error page on first load usually means a server-side rendering or plugin error, shown in your server logs. A page that breaks after loading is a browser error, shown in the console.
What's the problem
Your Nuxt app shows an error page (often a 500), a build fails, an API route under server/ errors, or the page breaks after loading.
Why it happens
- Rendering errors in components, often reading data that hasn't loaded.
- Plugin errors at startup.
- Server route errors in
server/API handlers: database or API failures. - Missing runtime config or environment variables in production.
- Browser-only code running during server rendering.
- Module or version upgrades.
How to fix it
- Read the error page and server logs to see where it failed.
- For rendering errors, guard data that may not be loaded yet.
- For plugin errors, check plugins that run at startup and whether they should run only in the browser.
- For server routes, read the handler's error in your logs.
- Check runtime config values in production.
- Customise the error page so users see something helpful.
What Preventionlabs checks
One click runs the full report on your domain. For this problem it shows whether your site loads, how fast, and where its redirects go; up to 50 pages from your sitemap, listing any that fail or are slow, plus broken links on them. With Cloudflare connected, it also shows which pages returned server errors (5xx) to visitors, and when; recent deploys and account changes, with their times. It doesn't read your server logs, so the exact error message is in your host's logs.
Run your free reportYour first report is free, no card needed. Then A$50 a month, up to 10 domains. Read-only: it never changes anything.
