Carrd hosts your site, so if it loads on its carrd.co address but not on your own domain, the problem is the domain. Check the domain is entered in your site's publish settings and the site was published again, then check your DNS records match what Carrd shows. Carrd issues the SSL certificate automatically only once DNS is in place and has fully updated, which its docs say can take up to an hour.
What's the problem
Your Carrd site doesn't load on your domain, shows a certificate warning, or only works with or without www.
Why it happens
- The domain isn't set in Carrd's publish settings, or the site wasn't republished.
- DNS records missing or wrong at your registrar, or registrar parking records still there.
- Only one of the root domain and
wwwhas records. - SSL isn't issued yet because DNS hasn't finished updating.
How to fix it
- Check the site loads on its
carrd.coaddress. - Enter your domain in the site's publish settings and publish again.
- Add the DNS records Carrd shows, for both the root domain and
www, and delete conflicting or parking records. - Wait for DNS and SSL, up to an hour for the certificate once DNS is right.
What Preventionlabs checks
One click runs the full report on your domain. For this problem it shows whether your site loads, how fast, and where its redirects go; uptime checked every 5 minutes, with an email when the site goes down and when it is back; up to 50 pages from your sitemap, listing any that fail or are slow, plus broken links on them; your DNS: nameservers, addresses, DNSSEC, and records pointing at services that no longer exist; whether HTTPS works and http visitors are sent to it. It has no connection to your site builder, so check its status page as well.
Run your free reportYour first report is free, no card needed. Then A$50 a month, up to 10 domains. Read-only: it never changes anything.
