Wix not working

Updated 11 October 2026

Short answer

Wix hosts everything, so when your Wix site isn't working it's usually one of three things: a Wix incident (shown on Wix's status page), the site not being published (or a premium plan expiring), or your domain not pointing at Wix. If the site loads on its free Wix address but not your own domain, it's the domain.

What's the problem

Your Wix site won't load, shows a Wix error or "this site isn't published", works on the Wix address but not your domain, or the editor won't open.

Why it happens

  • A Wix incident.
  • The site isn't published, or changes weren't published.
  • Plan or billing changes affecting the site or domain.
  • Domain DNS not pointing to Wix, or the domain expired at its registrar.
  • A third-party app or custom code in the site failing.
  • Your browser: extensions or cache, especially for the editor.

How to fix it

  1. Check Wix's status page.
  2. Check the site is published in your dashboard, and republish after changes.
  3. Check your plan and billing in your Wix account.
  4. Try the free Wix address. If it works, check your domain's connection in Wix and its DNS at the registrar.
  5. For editor problems, try a private window or another browser.
  6. Contact Wix support if the status is fine and the site is still down.

What Preventionlabs checks

One click runs the full report on your domain. For this problem it shows whether your site loads, how fast, and where its redirects go; uptime checked every 5 minutes, with an email when the site goes down and when it is back; up to 50 pages from your sitemap, listing any that fail or are slow, plus broken links on them; your DNS: nameservers, addresses, DNSSEC, and records pointing at services that no longer exist; whether HTTPS works and http visitors are sent to it. It has no connection to your site builder, so check its status page as well.

Run your free report

Your first report is free, no card needed. Then A$50 a month, up to 10 domains. Read-only: it never changes anything.
