Do all versions of my web address go to the same place?

Updated 2026-10-16

Short answer: your site can be reached four ways: http and https, each with and without www. All four should end on one secure address. When they don't, some visitors get a warning, an old site or a loop, and search engines see duplicate sites.

How to check it yourself

  1. Try all four in a private window: http://yourdomain.com, https://yourdomain.com, http://www.yourdomain.com, https://www.yourdomain.com.
  2. Each should end on the same https address.
  3. Check the hops with curl -IL: one or two redirects is fine, a long chain or a loop isn't.
  4. Fix it in your host or CDN with one redirect rule to your chosen address.

What Preventionlabs shows

Every report follows all four versions of your address and checks they end on one secure address without loops or long redirect chains, and how long browsers are told to insist on HTTPS. For example, from a real report: "http://www.example.com/ ends in an error (403)" while the other versions behaved differently.
