Are my Shopify products showing as in stock?
Updated 2026-10-17
Short answer: a store where every product shows "sold out" looks open but sells nothing. It happens after an inventory import, a sync problem with a stock app, or a setting change, and you won't notice if you never browse your own store as a customer.
How to check it yourself
- Open your store in a private window, logged out.
- Browse a few collections and check products show as available, not sold out.
- In Shopify admin, open Products, then Inventory, and check the quantities.
- If an app syncs stock, check its log for the last sync and any errors.
Why it matters
Customers can't buy a product marked sold out, and most won't contact you to ask. If every product shows sold out, the store is effectively closed while it looks open, and the drop in sales can look like a marketing problem when it's a stock setting.
Common causes
- An inventory import or CSV upload set quantities to zero.
- A stock-sync app or supplier feed failed or sent wrong numbers.
- Inventory tracking was turned on without stock entered for each variant.
- Products are assigned to a location that doesn't fulfil online orders.
